Academic Support  

  • The Support and Information Zone is your go-to place should you have any issues or feel in need of support.  
  • Learning support department for students with learning differences.  
  • Library resources: access to physical and digital library materials, including e-books and journals. 
  • Academic skills adviser offers study skills workshops, one-to-one tutorials and online resources in improving academic writing, referencing, presentation skills, research and more. 

Health and wellbeing support  

  • Dedicated health and wellbeing team of experienced professionals in nursing, mental health, student wellbeing and counselling. 
  • Drop-ins and bookable appointments with nurse health advisors. 
  • Qualified mental health advisors offering advice and signposting to students with diagnosed mental health conditions, as well as those experiencing stress, low mood, anxiety and difficulty coping. 
  • Student wellbeing advisors offering a friendly and confidential service for students with concerns regarding friends, family or other students, academic issues, stress, anxiety, accommodation, homesickness, bullying and harassment. 
  • Wellbeing counsellors offering a solution-focused approach to enable you to find a way forward whilst completing your studies. 
  • Mental health first aiders throughout campus.  

Disability support team 

  • Disability advisor supports learning needs of students with disabilities or medical conditions. 
  • Dyslexia and dyspraxia advisor offers initial screening for dyslexia, dyspraxia and other specific learning difficulties, and assists students with obtaining full educational psychology reports. 
  • Sensory advisor helps students with vision and/or hearing impairments to access course materials in alternative formats and access assistive technology. 
  • Note-takers, readers, communicators, signers and non-medical helpers/mentors can also be provided.

Social support  

  • A range of clubs and societies to help you meet like-minded people

  • Bursaries and grants available to care-experienced students and those eligible for free school meal.
  • Subject-specific funding with grants and bursaries for certain courses. 
  • Gifted Athlete Support Programme to help students compete at the highest level of their sport.  

Accommodation services 

  • Adapted and priority accommodation for students with physical disabilities and/or medical conditions. 
  • Accommodation staff available 24/7 during licence agreement period.   

Careers guidance 

  • Our careers and employability team can help with finding work or postgraduate study, going freelance or starting a business, as well as exploring careers and writing CVs. 
  • Careers fairs are held throughout the year to connect students with potential employers.
